The recommended GPS tracker for your discipline

The location, the type of outdoor sport and the number of participants directly shape the choice of the right tracker.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    Car raid & rally-raid

For rally-raids and adventure raids in remote areas (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia), keep your competitors safe with rental satellite GPS trackers. On regularity stages, live rankings and checkpoint validation rely on the GPRS tracker wherever the network allows.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    Motorbike & enduro

For motorbike rides and enduro races in France or Europe with good network coverage, the GPRS GPS tracker is ideal: it provides regular tracking, alert handling, checkpoint validation and live rankings. Off the network, the satellite tracker takes over.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    MTB, gravel, road

For cycling, gravel, mountain bike and road sportive events, the GPRS GPS tracker offers ultra-precise real-time tracking. Whether your race is non-stop (bikepacking, ultra-distance) or in stages, we adapt the position interval to last the whole race.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    Orienteering trek

For orienteering treks in covered areas, the GSM / GPRS GPS tracker is ideal to instantly validate the checkpoints (CP) and field markers reached by participants. If your race goes through high mountains or the desert, the satellite tracker keeps tracking off the network.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    Trail & ultra-trail

For trails and ultra-trails, Owaka adapts to the profile of your race. Over distances under 100 km on flat ground with good network coverage, the GPRS GPS tracker offers ideal live tracking. For ultra-trails over 100 km crossing mountains without network, the satellite tracker provides continuous tracking and several days of battery life.

  • Satellite
    GPRS

    Adventure race

For adventure raids, triathlons and multisport events, the choice of tracker depends on the duration and geography of the race. In urban or suburban areas, GSM GPS tracking offers responsive and precise live tracking; in the wild or over several days, the satellite tracker provides worldwide coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about our GPS trackers

Which GPS tracker should I choose for a mountain trail?

If the course stays within mobile coverage, the GPRS tracker is enough and offers very precise tracking. As soon as some sections go off the network (high valleys, remote ridges), the satellite tracker makes sure every position comes through, whatever the terrain.

Which GPS tracker works in the desert?

The satellite tracker: it sends its positions by satellite, without relying on any mobile network. It is the reference tracker for rally-raids and desert races, from Morocco to Saudi Arabia.

How long does a GPS tracker battery last?

The GPRS tracker lasts up to 36 hours with one position per minute, the satellite tracker up to 120 hours with one position every 5 minutes. Actual battery life depends on the chosen interval: we set it with you according to the length of your race.

Can we monitor the trackers' battery level in real time?

Yes. The battery level of each tracker is reported to the private platform along with its positions, so your team can plan a tracker swap before it runs out.

Can the GPS trackers be reconfigured remotely during the event?

Yes. The position interval is adjusted remotely according to the area crossed (geofencing), without collecting the trackers: more frequent on key sections, less frequent elsewhere to save battery.

Can Owaka advise me on the ideal tracker for my event?

Yes. In 30 minutes, our team reviews your course, your discipline and your number of participants, then recommends the right tracker and configuration. Just request a free demo.
